Welcome new users

Welcome to new members to the Central Puget Sound GIS Users' Group BBS! We are all happy to see the number of folks who have signed up so far. Be sure to check out some of the features of this site.

We'd like to remind everybody about user names. In order to help assure we have valid GIS users, we are requesting that you place your full name and organization in the 'Signature' field. The other reason for using full names instead of nicknames is that potential clients or employers will get an impression of professionalism. A "non-encrypted" user name also makes it easier for other list members to contact you directly. You may want to think about whether you want to face potential embarrassment in a professional situation by using a name that would be fine in a chat room about outside interests.

Thanks for helping keep the BBS a valuable user resource

Let us know if you have any questions

Thanks for the appropos (sp ?) reminder, Dick. I guess I should add that spell checker sooner than later as that can also be embarassing ;-) I'll try to get this added by the end of the week or early next week.

If you want to change your username or add a signature, you just need to edit your profile. The following link will show you a flash movie on how to do this. You can also edit your profile to change email addresses if you move jobs or would rather use a different one than you used when you registered.

Editing your user profile: Watch movie

The use of these features allow you to keep all your information up to date - so you no longer have to email Dick 'change requests'.
